The Hotel Nazionale is in Basilicata, in the town of Matera, an ancient city of art with an archaic charm, well known for its "Sassi" belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage.
The "Sassi" of Matera stand on one side of a canyon dug by the Gravina stream. Facing the "Sassi" on the other side of the canyon, is the Murgia Plateau with its Archeological and Natural Park of the Rock Churches. The scenery of the Murgia represents the original context of those places that in time developed into a urban settlement, but only on the side of the "Sassi".
